
The first phase of the European "Car of the Year 2012" [Coty] contract was completed with the publication of the 35 candidates are eligible to participate in the voting process.
As with previous events, to be a candidate, applicants had to be new cars available now or before the end of this year, in five or more European markets, and everyone should be able to at least 5000 the annual sales.
A total of 59 journalists from 23 European countries voted in two stages, with the first production of a short list of seven candidates, which will be announced January 9, 2012, while the second round will reveal the winner will be announced in March 2012.
In particular, the organizers have changed the procedure for the publication of the Coty winner. Instead of publishing the results of the end of November, Coty Organizing Committee agreed to the organizers of the Geneva Motor Show to unveil the winner on Monday before the Palexpo first press day at 15:00.
