MINI BMW Group is ready to add another important market for its carpets as the Bavarian automaker said Monday it will launch the business models of small premium in India from 2012.
"I am pleased to announce that the Mini will be introduced in India in 2012," said the president of BMW India Andreas Schaaf. "We developed a new Mini ten years ago from scratch. India is the only country where the Mini was not introduced. So I think it will be as successful here as in other countries. "
BMW boss said the company plans to create independent distributors for the start of the MINI brand in two showrooms in New Delhi and Mumbai. In the coming years, the British car manufacturer will have a total of 12 distributors throughout the country.
Schaaf said that the company has not yet decided which model to use it, but added that costs more than 25 lakh (U.S. $ 51,000), or roughly 20 times the lowest cost of Tata Nano.
"Currently, the BMW team to assess what is the version to be launched in India from around the Mini family," said Schaaf. "We have not finalized the price of the car yet, but it is a premium brand and a luxury car. Of course, the price of admission is more than Rs 25 lakh."
