Chevrolet Malibu first debuted in South Korea



The new eighth-generation Chevrolet Malibu is not only the first time in the history of the plates over 35 years to be offered worldwide, but also the first launch outside the United States.

Tuesday, General Motors released the Chevrolet Malibu 2013 in South Korea, which is the first market to receive the midsize sedan. Local production will begin later this month at the GM plant in Korea making Bupyeong while sales are scheduled to begin on November 1.

"Korea is the first country to produce and sell all-new Malibu," said GM Chairman and CEO Mike Arcamone Korea. "Expressive style, comfortable cabin, excellent driving and handling and high level of security exceeds the expectations of consumers."

The 4865 mm long 2013 Malibu is offered in South Korea with a choice of two gasoline engines Ecotec four-cylinder engine, both linked to an automatic transmission.

Entry-level 2.0-liter is rated at 141HP and offers 12.4km/lt fuel consumption (29.2mpg U.S. or 8.0lt/100km the same), while the higher volume of 2.4 liter engine producing 178HP and fuel returning 11.8 km / lt economy (27.8mpg U.S. or lt/100km 8.5).

The new mid-size Chevy is due to launch in China before the end of this year, followed by the United States and Europe next spring, and Australia in late 2012 (as Holden).
