Judge Rules in Favor of BMW Dealer who Fired Employee Over Facebook Posts



Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter are a boon, as long as you make judicious use of them. Apparently, Robert Becker, an employee in the dealership BMW Lake Bluff crossed the border and the consequences were fatal.

Becker posted comments and pictures on Facebook about a sales event organized by the dealer, he worked for Karl Knauz BMW, criticized the cheap food that was offered to the guests.

The same day he posted photos of an accident in a nearby Land Rover belonging to an owner. An authorized dealer of a child of 13 years old, from a customer in the driver's seat of a car. This proved a mistake, as the child stepped on the accelerator and drove into a pond.

With images of the accident, Becket posted: "This car is your car on drugs.".

After these incidents, he was fired June 22, 2010. Thus, the National Labor Relations Board filed a complaint against the dealer on behalf of Becker.

However, things do not go as we could expect Becker NLRB administrative law judge ruled that the dealer did not violate federal labor law to fire him.

NLRB representatives did not comment on the decision.
