
Geneva Motor Show in March this year, Peugeot has announced a new version of the 908 LMP1 class endurance runner HYbrid4 and called his name, uses a hybrid power train.
Peugeot does not enter its new diesel-electric endurance runner in the last 24 hours of Le Mans, or any other event to date for that matter, relying instead on existing diesel 908HDi. The reason is that the new model was still in the early stages of development and is scheduled to compete in 2012.
Shakedown test came just a month ago, on September 16 and have been kept secret. Now, Peugeot has decided to test the 908 HYbrid4 is outside of the Estoril circuit in Portugal. Drivers of the French company Alexander Wurz, Nicolas Minas Sian and Stephan Monsaraz completed more than 300 km (186.5 miles) with the disorder.
Peugeot Sport Technical Director Bruno famine, however, admitted that the distance could not be compared to a real endurance race:. "Our goal was not to put many miles on the clock, but to ensure that all key functions performed, it was important to analyze the data from each race to make sure we understand the results before proceeding to the next step . "
After Formula 1, endurance race next in line to adopt hybrid technology, Toyota has recently announced its own hybrid LMP1 Le Mans races. In addition, Porsche race was a 911 GT3 R hybrid in both years.
