Rumors: McLaren F1 Successor Is Scheduled To Launch In 2012 Iconic

Since the launch MP4-12C, McLaren has done more or less clear that it intends to establish itself as a serious sports car manufacturer and get a full range of models covering the entire spectrum of supercars.

Now, it seems that a British car maker is taking its time, according to a report on the British magazine Autocar, which will launch a successor to the legendary 1990 F1 in 2012 - a year ahead of schedule. Perhaps the reason is the same as the original F1 20-year anniversary.

We have already covered the topic extensively, developing plans for the future of McLaren cars that require an investment of $ 1 billion. All of them are based on the carbon fiber chassis MP4-12C, which was fully developed to support different models, but will be very different in character.

Top-of-the-line F1 is the successor code-named P12, and has a reputation to live up to. Gordon Murray designed to pre-set a new design, weight and performance standards not only for the duration, but also for many years: the Bugatti Veyron has a top speed record for many years after.

The P12 uses the carbon fiber chassis MP4-12C, with a mid-engine design. No details on the engine yet, but its production will be near the mark of 800HP rivals like Ferrari and Lamborghini Eclipse Aventador Enzo successor in 2012.

Despite being more powerful, the P12 weighs about the same as the MP4-12C through the extensive use of carbon fiber and other exotic materials of construction. Customers will also be asked to pay more than € 200 000 to request McLaren MP4-12C Europe.

Company insiders have described the car as "revolutionary." They also claim that, contrary to the MP4-12C has received rave reviews in his McLaren banal logo design will make an impact on style wise.

The same sources that some elements of F1 1992 will continue, but at this point it is unclear whether the position of the center will conduct a separate one of them. Moreover, unlike the original, which sold only 72 road cars, modern F1 enter the regular production, but it will be more exclusive than the MP4-12C.
