
Although it has been available in other regions, including Europe and Asia since 2009, Chevrolet newest city, Spark, making its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Los Angeles on 16 2011 in November.
The five-door, four-seater subcompact sedan is available in the United States and Canada, one of the engine options, 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 85 hp to turn the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox or Alternatively, the four-speed automatic.
"The new Spark is for buyers who want more than a small car" mono "- they want a car that can be customized, dynamic, modern and offers great value for money," said Chris Perry, VP of Marketing Global Strategy and Chevrolet. "Out of the dynamics of [the] Spark and colors into a fashion statement, but it is also affordable, safe, practical and very fuel efficient."
GM argues that despite its compact dimensions, Spark offers more space for passengers and their luggage as other mini cars that are offered in states such as Fiat 500, Scion IQ and Smart ForTwo.
Unlike all the above models will kick five doors, but the Chevrolet designers have "saved" the rear door handles in the C-pillar to make the Mini look a little sportier.
The European version of the spark scored four stars in Euro NCAP tests, scoring very high in the categories of protection of adults and children (81% and 78% respectively).
The North American edition promises to be even safer by offering 10 standard airbags and Electronic Stability Control is missing in the European version.
The spark is up to date with the GM OnStar system that uses GPS and mobile technology to automatically ask for help in case of failure.
Inside, the infotainment system MyLink is standard on 1LT and 2LT specifications. This system allows easy transfer of music libraries, access to Pandora and Stitcher Internet radio and navigation via Bluetooth connected smartphones, and when the car is stationary, projection of videos and photo albums on your screen 7 inches.
"This level of connectivity and entertainment was unheard of in this segment, so far," said Perry. "We know that buyers do not want to leave the customization Spark just because driving smaller cars."
