After a long wait, finally Audi slid the covers of the new A7 Sportback at a special event at the art museum "Pinakothek der Moderne" in Munich today. Following a similar formula with the little A5 Sportback, Audi has designed a stylish five-door model to target the new Mercedes-Benz CLS and BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo.
The German automaker says the production version of the Sportback Concept last year, combines the best of three worlds. "Sporty elegance of a coupe, the comfort of a saloon and the practicality of a pause" Actually, Audi A7 Sportback is a trainer look at the next version of the A6 with a low roof line, a more practical hatchback and seating for four years.
Out of the car and interior design has remained virtually intact in the 2009 Detroit auto show with the most changes in the practical details, like the big head and tail lights and the shape and size of the mirrors, less luxurious interior finish. And, oh, you also get a retractable spoiler nice back similar to that found on the Porsche Panamera.
Five-door coupe, which is located between the A6 and A8, is 4.97 meters (16.31 feet) long and 1.91 meters (6.27 meters) wide, but only 1.42 meters (4 , 66 meters) tall. The back of the trunk lid reveals a capacity of 535 liters (18.89 cubic feet), which can inflate the volume of 1390 liters (49.09 cubic feet) with a split rear seatbacks are folded down.
Under plates, the A7 Sportback rides modified the architecture of the A6, which is due to both sedan and Avant (wagon Audi speak) to form in 2011.
Audi will initially offer the A7 Sportback with a choice of two petrol and two turbo-diesel V6 engines, all with direct injection, a system of energy recovery, and Stop & Start technology.
The petrol range includes the 2.8 FSI and 3.0 TFSI models, which combine with a dual clutch S-Tronic and Quattro all-wheel drive traction.
Aspirated 2.8-liter producing 204HP and 280 Nm (206.52 pounds-ft) of torque at 5250 rpm to carry the A7 0-100 km / h (62 mph) in 8.3 seconds and a top speed of 235 km / h (146 mph). It consumes 8.0lt / 100 km (29.4 mpg U.S.), on average, which equates to 187g/km of CO2 (300.95 g / mile).
Supercharged 3.0-liter V6 generates 300 hp) between 5250 and 6500 rpm and generates 440 Nm (324.53 pounds-ft) of torque between 2900 and 4500 rpm. Sprint standard requires 5.6 seconds and top speed is limited to 250 km / h (155 mph), while fuel consumption was 8.2 lt/100km (28.7 U.S. mpg), equivalent to 190 g / km CO2 (305.8 g / mile).
In the second diesel, Audi offers two versions of the 3.0-liter V6 TDI. The more powerful 245HP variant produced between 4000 and 4500 rpm and 500 Nm (368.78 pounds ft) of torque between 1,400 and 3,250 rpm, and comes with S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive.
The acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h (62 mph) takes 6.5 seconds and top speed is limited to 250 km / h (155 mph), while average fuel consumption is estimated at 6.0lt/100km ( 39, 2 miles per U.S. gallon), with CO2 emissions of 158 g / km (254.3 g / km).
The basic version produces 204HP 3.0-liter TDI between 3750 and 4500 rpm, and is only available with front wheel drive and multitronic automatic transmission. This engine, the A7 Sportback sprints from 0 to 100 km / h (62 mph) in 8.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 234 km / h (145 mph) and consumes 5.3 liters of diesel per 100 km (44 , U.S. 4 mpg) CO2 emissions 139g/km (223.70 g / mile).
Although Audi does not say so officially, expect to see performance-oriented S7 and RS7 variants, and a hybrid model that is added to the range in the next two years.
In Europe, the new roll A7 Sportback in dealerships this fall, with prices in Germany start at € 51,600 (equivalent to $ 66.720 in the United States on the current exchange rate). No word yet on U.S. pricing and availability.
