Seat has introduced two new prototypes ecological Altea XL ECOMOTIVE power, which is an all-electric zero-emission version of its mid-size van, and Leon TWINDRIVE ECOMOTIVE, a plug-in hybrid version of its C-segment sedan .
A test fleet of the two models, which are still in prototype form, is available to Catalonia and Madrid government institutions to collect valuable information about the effective use of the cars before moving to mass production versions
Seat, which has already developed a gasoline-electric hybrid prototype Leon two years ago, plans to launch its first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in 2015 and its all-electric car a year later.
Company president, James Muir, said: "Customers are demanding more sustainable mobility, but their needs are different therefore we believe that a parallel strategy to develop two different technologies will seat in the best position to meet their needs .. "
Altea XL Electric Ecomotive is powered by an electric motor power 115HP (85kW) and 270 Nm (199.1 pounds-ft) of torque. Its top speed is electronically limited to 135 km / h (84 mph) and a driving range of 135 km (84 miles), while the fact that the battery is mounted under the rear seats means no loss of space inside.
The all-electric Altea has a feedback system kinetic energy and photovoltaic cells on the roof of recirculation of fresh air in the cabin when the car is parked, reducing the need to use the system energy consumption for air conditioning in the future.
EV mode, the plug-in hybrid Seat Leon is a driving range of 52 km (32.3 miles) and a top speed of 120 km / h (75 mph). In combined mode (electric and combustion), consumption is estimated at 1.7 km lt/100 (138.3mpg USA), and 18.5 kWh per 100 km, CO2 emissions of 39g/km, while increasing the maximum speed at 170 km / h (105 mph).
