All-New 2012 Kia Rio Sedan for North America Breaks Cover

After implementing the China market K2 Kia sedan Shanghai Auto Show 2011 on Tuesday, the automaker's South Korean subcompact sedan siblings exposed North America to be sold under the name of Rio de Janeiro. Although K2 and Rio share the same foundation that the sedan versions of the saloon of the brand new Rio, which opened in Geneva in March, the two designs exclusive role models outside.

North America Rio sedan with a hatchback-style front with large, almond-shaped headlights add a new line of window and design a different ending to the rear. Ditto for the interior, which is identical with the five-door model we saw in Geneva, without the trims and different characteristics.

For 2012, Rio is long, wider and lower than the previous generation, measurement 4366mm (171.9 inches). Long, 1720 mm wide (67.7 inches). And 1455 mm (57.3 inches). Kia said that through the use of high strength steel (63 percent), the new Rio offers improved torsional rigidity for improved handling, ride quality and refinement, and the potential for increased impact resistance while reducing overall weight.

United States, the new Rio powered by a 135hp 1.6 liter GDI four-cylinder engine with the option of a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic transmission. Kia Rio said that the new return is estimated at 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway (7.8-5.8L/100km). Rio will be offered with Kia's ISG Technology Start-Stop.
