
Following the U.S. launch of the 500 Fiat 500C and regular canvas upper, it is time that the Italian automaker to introduce sportier version of its mini retro style, the new 500 Abarth in 2012, which made its debut today at the Fair, the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The good news is that Fiat has chosen to offer the Abarth 500 with a more powerful engine than the standard 135-hp four-banger that is available on the base model in Europe.
In the Hot 500 can be turbo, intercooler and twin-cylinder engine with 1.4 liter Multiair, which produces a more robust 160 hp at 5500 rpm and 170 lb-ft (230Nm) of torque between 2500 and 4000 rpm.
A manual gearbox five speeds with a transfer of power Abarth set torque transfer control system (TTC) with the front wheels. Chassis modifications include a revised suspension with stiffer springs, a quicker steering and larger brakes, while the Italian model lists alloy wheels wrapped in high-performance 17-inch Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires size 205/40 R17.
Externally, the 500 Abarth gets a new front and rear bumper bodykit and spoiler as well as custom graphics and two exhaust pipes leading on both sides of the rear diffuser.
Domestic products are a set of envelopes sports seats covered in leather and Alcantara with red accent points, a thick frame, flat bottom steering wheel, a redesigned instrument panel, aluminum pedals and a sporty finish everywhere.
