Report: Jaguar and Land Rover to Build Cars in China in Partnership with Chery

What do you do when you are a manufacturer of luxury cars and sales do not go as planned? Simple: you are investing in China, because, despite the cooling of the cars on the market, buyers still an appetite for luxury foreign cars.

In July, we announced that Jaguar and Land Rover owner Tata Motors will invest heavily in both brands to improve their sales, especially those of Jaguar, there is a sharp decline.

In the same report, Tata said the company was "considering options for mounting and location of the selected products Jaguar Land Rover in China."

The problem is not limited to march to the ground and begins to build the plant. According to Chinese law, you must have a local partner. And since taxes of imported cars expensive to do, any company that sells cars in China has followed the same path.

Now JLR also explore opportunities for joint ventures. Reuters reported that according to China Business Review, JLR has decided to partner with Chery and the two companies have already obtained the approval of local authorities to carry out their business plan.

Representatives of both companies denied comment on the issue. Perhaps because Chery has already blown the Subaru was vetoed by the Council on the basis of the fact that Toyota, which is a shareholder of Subaru, is already two such countries Ventures.

If the deal goes through, JLR factory in China is expected to produce 40,000 units per year, which are sold in local markets.

Chevy Brings Breast Cancer Fight to NASCAR with Pink-Themed Camaro Pace Car

A specially themed Camaro SS pace car dressed in a pink outfit will run in the forthcoming NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at the Atlanta Motor Speedway and Richmond International Raceway next weekend (September 10) to raise awareness on the fight against breast cancer.

General Motors' Chevrolet division said it will also make a $200 donation to the American Cancer Society for each caution lap performed by the pink pace car. In addition, the brand said it is collaborating with the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative to participate in various events.

“For 100 years, Chevy has been helping people along the journey of life in countless ways,” said Alan Batey, Chevy vice president for Sales and Service. “But as we all know, sometimes life’s journeys take detours or end too early. Together with our race fans, Chevrolet wants to help the American Cancer Society create a world with less cancer, more birthdays and longer journeys.”

New Chevy Camaro Rulz the Streets and Facebook

Chevrolet’s Camaro was the best-selling sports car in the US in 2010 stealing the crown from the Ford Mustang despite the fact that, unlike its longtime nemesis, General Motors' pony car was available only as a coupe.

The launch of the convertible version in early 2011 extended its lead: in the first eight months of the year, the Camaro looks set to outperform the Mustang by more than 10,000 units according to General Motors' data.

But the Camaro’s popularity doesn’t stop on the streets. The sports car has also taken Facebook by storm, acquiring nearly two million fans. “The community that has grown around the Camaro is truly remarkable,” commented Chevrolet’s digital consumer engagement manager, Carolin Probstlyer.

“People are constantly posting new photos and content, which in turn inspires comments from others. The community provides an invaluable way for us to communicate directly with Camaro enthusiasts and understand what they like the most.”

Chevrolet expects Camaro’s success, both in sales and in the social media world, to increase with the introduction of the Transformers Special Edition this fall and the most powerful Camaro ever produced, the 550+ HP supercharged ZL1, in 2012.

Report: Chrysler’s Sebring replacement to be named Nassau

Flash back to the 2007 Detroit Auto Show and sitting on the Chrysler stand was the Nassau concept. Nothing ever came of the angular five-door, but some of the elements that debuted on the show car eventually worked their way onto the Sebring. That connection stands to be revived with a report by the Detroit Free Press that the Sebring’s replacement will carry the Nassau name when the all-new midsize sedan goes on sale within the next two years.

The concept’s sleek lines aren’t likely to inspire the Nassau, but considering Chrysler purchased the name, it’s fair game and will help to put Chrysler’s lackluster sedan out of the public consciousness.

Chrysler hasn’t official confirmed the name yet, but when the Nassau goes on sale – likely in 2012 – it will be joined by the refreshed Dodge Avenger, with a thoroughly revised interior and a choice of either a 2.4-liter four-cylinder or Chrysler’s new Pentastar V6.

Report: Next Chrysler Sebring to be built in Italy?

If ever there was a model in the Chrysler line up that needs updating, it’s the Sebring. While the car was a perfectly capable competitor when it debuted way back in 1995, subsequent generations have left it as nothing more than rental-fleet fodder. But if a report from Automotive News is to be believed, that may change significantly when the next iteration of the sedan debuts in 2013. According to AN, Fiat has its eyes on producing a new mid-sized four-door in Turin, Italy just for the Chrysler brand, with the new sedan being sold exclusively in the U.S.

While it may no longer carry the Sebring name once it hits our shores, the car will likely be a spiritual successor to the company’s Camry-fighter. Beyond that, details are scarce as to what will be under the hood, what gearboxes will be offered or how much it will cost.

Fiat also made mention of the fact that starting in 2012, the company will build a new small sedan here in the Land of the Free that will be sold under the Chrysler banner. That may mean the company is looking toward sending the near unlovable Dodge Avenger out to pasture or eying a replacement for the Dodge Caliber. Either way, Chrysler is getting a much needed infusion of new metal sooner rather than later.
