Let's face it: we live in a politically correct society, it is considered that speeding, drinking, smoking and other many things such as anti-social. So when a rumor that General Motors, the surfaces of all companies General speaks to fund a new version of The Cannonball Run (well, probably from smoking), it comes as a bit of a surprise.

For those of you too young to remember, is involved in the original 1981 story of an illegal cross-country where no law left unbroken. Nevertheless NY Magazine reported today that GM is in talks with producer Al Ruddy (The Godfather, Million Dollar Baby) to participate in the project in a big way.

But shortly after the story made headlines, GM spokesman Tom Henderson posted a tweet denies any involvement: "I am a spokesman for GM, it's baseless speculation / rumors GM would tolerate not a project to portray the reckless / drunk ... "

So there you have it, then a new ball Canon may be at work, it is General Motors has nothing to do with a project that is tolerant of careless driving (unless of course it is save the earth from a horde of Decepticons ...)

Delays in Chinese Loan May Spell the End for Saab

If this were a movie, it would have more sequels than Rocky, Rambo and Mission Impossible together. However, it is not: It is the story of the survival of Saab.

And the last chapter may be the last. According to the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, is Guy Lofalk, the administrator appointed by the court to oversee the implementation of Saab's restructuring plan, ready to stop the process, remove the protection of company creditors and, indeed automaker said bankruptcy.

The reason is that Saab did not receive the € 70 million ($ 95.4 million) bridge loan pledged by the Chinese partner Youngman Pang DA, as it plays a crucial role in desperate need of the company for financing the short term.

Lofalk not be reached while the automaker has Victor Muller declined to comment. Saab declined by 7.2% this morning, while the spokeswoman Gunilla Gustavs automaker said: "We are still waiting to get the loan Youngman." She could not say when that would happen or how long the company may proceed without the loan.

Local Judge Cecilia Tisell told Reuters it is possible that the same Saab, rather than an administrator, ask the judge to remove the protection from creditors when it comes to the conclusion that the restructuring process will not succeed.

He added, however, that no such request has not yet been filed, "No, we have not heard anything like it in all companies Lofalk Saab Guy".

Can the Swedish government in the relief phase and Saab, to pay his debts to the European Investment Bank and effectively acquire the company, as some reports suggest?

"No, the Debt Office has no such mandate," said a spokesman for the Swedish Debt Office in the newspaper when asked to comment.

No help from the government then. Last chance to Saab for the administrator can be expected until at least Friday when the National Development Reform Commisssion China and is expected to decide on Saab Pang Da-Youngman loans.

Found For Sale: Cool 1965 Ford Mustang Shooting Brake

Like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster, the Ford Mustang Station Wagon is an elusive beast often spoken of but rarely seen.

The story goes that J. Walter Thompson advertising executive Barney Clark and designer Bob Cumberford commission the Italian coachbuilding firm Intermeccanica to build a one-off shooting brake in 1965. Heck, it even appeared on the cover of the October 1966 issue of Car and Driver.

This is not that car, but a very nice replica by a man named Joe Kamp. Based on a 1965 Ford Mustang hardtop, Mr. Kamp cut, lengthened and widened the roof to make the distinctive shooting brake rear end.

Cleverly, the tailgate, rear window and C-pillars were fashioned out of bits of the original hardtop, deck lid and C-pillars respectively. Mr. Kamp went to great lengths to maintain that “factory fresh” look.

The rear quarter windows were retained, as were the original front and rear bumpers, taillights, alloy wheels, AM radio and Ford EEC-IV engine management system. He added to that a fibreglass hood with integrated scoop, a Shelby-style grille and red exterior paint with gold stripes.

The Mustang now has power disc brakes, new shocks, custom control arms, a reinforced chassis and a Ford 5.0 L V8 mated to a TG 5spd manual transmission with a Hurst shifter and heavy duty clutch.

Inside there’s a custom centre console, a front bench seat fashioned out of the original buckets, AM / FM / CD stereo and air conditioning. It’s all brown vinyl and carpets, tan plastic and white door panels and headlines.

With 151,222 kilometres (93,965 miles) on the clock and an asking price of US$64,900 (€48,325), this one-of-a-kind Mustang is for sale at RK Motors in Charlotte, North Carolina. Check out our full gallery below and leave a comment if you wish.

Court Orders Suzuki to Pay $18.5 Million to Kansas Dealer for Negative Publicity

The U.S. division of Suzuki has been ordered by a Jackson County, Missouri court to pay one of its official dealers, Jeremy Franklin Suzuki located in Kansas City, the sum of $18.5 million for negative publicity against its business.

Out of the $18.5 million, $15 million are due to punitive damages caused by Suzuki’s action to the dealership, while the remaining $3.5 million are to be paid as compensation to Jeremy Franklin, president of the dealership.

The story goes like this: another Kansas City Suzuki dealer along with Franklin’s own brother, Chad, advertised a “no payments for life” plan for new Suzuki car buyers. As anticipated, their scheme didn’t go as planned so a barrage of lawsuits and negative publicity was inevitable.

Jeremy, who owned his own Suzuki dealership, had no involvement in the promotion. However, his attorneys argued that the negative publicity that stemmed from his brother's case damaged his business as consumers were mistakenly believed that Chad's and Jeremy's separate dealerships were connected.

Jeremy Franklin commented on the court’s verdict: “We see this as a vindication of our commitment to serve our customers and our persistent efforts to grow our business despite all the confusion. We look forward to rebuilding trust in the Suzuki brand name in Kansas City.”

So where does American Suzuki feature in this sibling rivalry? Well, as Jeremy Franklin’s attorney Bill Car explained, it approved and funded some of the “no payments for life” ads: “They should be held responsible for their role in approving their ads and paying for parts of the promotion and not taking steps to stop it.”

Apparently, the jury was convinced by his argument. American Suzuki spokesman Jeff Holland commented that “the company is disappointed” by the verdict and will appeal.
