10 Year-Old Boy Takes $206k Maserati for a Joyride then Crashes

The idea of swiping the keys of your father's car is something we probably all thought about at some point in our adolescent years. But how many of us really went ahead with the plan? Okay, you can put your hands down now…

One 10-year-old American boy in Hong Kong actually realized the idea and took his father's Maserati Gran Coupe, which was purportedly bought in 2009 for HK$1.6 million (US$206,000), for a crazy joyride near central Hong Kong.

The boy-trouble got the keys to the Italian sports car from an unlocked drawer and managed to drive off from the parking lot hitting another car in the process and continuing for another 300 meters (about 1,000 feet) on a busy road before he came to a stop and a by-passer called the police.

"Police arrested the 10-year-old for driving without a license and taking a conveyance without authority under the theft ordinance," said a police spokesperson, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

South China Morning Post reported that the child was released on police bail. While his offences can potentially carry a punishment of seven years in Hong Kong, the daily newspaper said that the boy would probably not be charged because of his age, but is still required to report to the police station at the end of the month.

Then again, now that he is home, we assume that's probably the least of his worries…

Alfa Romeo Giulietta by Maserati to be Used as a Courtesy Car for the Trident Brand's Dealerships

Collaborations between two companies that belong in the same group is a common practice. However, platform or parts sharing, or even badge engineering, is not the only form of a partnership.

In 2008, Ferrari chose a limited edition of the Fiat 500 as a courtesy car for its customers. Now, two more brands of the Fiat group have emulated the Ferrari-Fiat move. Maserati has chosen Alfa Romeo's C-segment hatchback, the Giulietta, as a courtesy car for its clients in Europe.

The car, which will be produced in a strictly limited number of 100 units, is based on the top-of-the-line Quadrifoglio Verde that’s powered by a 235HP turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder petrol engine.

The “Giulietta for Maserati” special will be distinguished on the outside by 18-inch alloy wheels that Alfa says are “enhanced by diamond tooling” and larger brakes with red calipers.

In the cabin, Maserati owners who will use the Giulietta as a courtesy car will find “Maserati Brown” Venere leather upholstery, brushed aluminum inserts along with an “Alfa Romeo for Maserati” plaque on the dashboard and aluminum door sill plates with the names “Giulietta” and “Maserati” engraved on them.

Standard features include bi-xenon headlights with AFS function, a navigation system with a pop-up display, a Blue&Me hands-free system with steering wheel-mounted controls, Bluetooth, USB and AUX-IN connectivity and dual-zone automatic climate control.

He also said that Maserati would continue to be, for the greatest piece, an Italian language carmaker: “Apart from the Kubang, the big bars will remain in Italia. There is a website in Modena that creates the Quattroporte. There can be some concern to what happens to that place after the Quattroporte. There is plenty of common function in what we’re doing between the scaled-down sized car and the larger one that we can do what we want.”

Last, but not least, he resolved the concern of VW being considering the getting Alfa Romeo: “Alfa in VW’s palms would not be Alfa” he said, professing that the In german group’s program technique would change the changeable personality. Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

As we told you about our previous post, Gran Turismo MC Road is genuine, a sportier version of the big Maser sedan (think the GT3, but the Maserati). According to Italian sport / luxury car manufacturer, the MC Road did not move an inch when it came to include the performance in return, it runs better without losing ride quality (which has not yet been tested), is more efficient without sacrificing fuel economy, and the same plants more difficult without increasing resistance.

According to the Italians, the MC Stradale is the normal production in the first place, the road continues to break the Maserati 300 kmh [186 mph] barrier.

Routes power car with an "electro-enabled" transmission that changes in a period of 60 milliseconds lean launched optimally, if the vehicle up to 100 km / h (62 mph) in 4.6 second.

Inside, the car gets a layout "simplified" dash, losing the rear seats, and collects some of the dry race (and an optional roll-bars and 4 points of attack). It is also not a "machine" and "Sport" mode, not all for the first time how "race" are on the road going Maserati.

Back outside, there are many new weight loss little add-ons to performance, and just looks good. All new parts are included in the external changes are: bumper of a new front splitter, front and rear protection panels front, side panels, hood and exhaust tips.

As long as you do not live in the United States, Canada or Korea, you may be one place on the road after it goes on sale next February.

Italian Ministry Orders 19 Maserati Quattroporte Limos Amidst Severe EU Economic Crisis

Unless you have been living in a give these recent few several weeks and were completely cut-off from the outside world, you will definitely be familiar with of the Western overall economy that began with the Ancient greek debts and is now frightening to immerse many more Europe.

For the last many years, Portugal taken extremely serious austerity actions to lessen its debts – though their rendering has remaining a lot to be preferred. Italia and Italy are regarded as by many experts to be next in line.

Yet the Italian language Secretary of state for Safeguard lately purchased 19 range-topping Maserati Quattroporte cars for administration officials!

It comes to no delight that the proceed induced an dislike in Italia as the ministry is designed to cut its resources by €2.5 million (US $3.5 billion) in the next several years.

“At some time when a lot of Italians are being suffering from a very serious overall economy, is there reasonable for the defense reverend to add 19 armored Maseratis to the ministry’s car park?” thought weight MP Emanuele Fiano in the parliament.

The defense reverend, Ingazio La Russa, opponent the weight of performing a “witch hunt” since he says that the autos were purchased for with resources from the 2008-2009 resources, before Silvio Berlusconi's administration presented the slashes.

La Russa also unquestionably devoted card: “What’s the problem? Maseratis are Italian language and they cost less than their In german equivalents", he said.

Truth to be said, he does have a real point there but only if you never take into account that before we tested, several Fiat, Lancia and of course, Alfa Romeo designs are still created in Italia. Unless of course, an Alfa 159 automobile, for example, is far too routine for the administration officials' pretty tastes….
