Alfa Romeo Presents The Product Plans Through 2014, Developing A New RWD Sedan With A V6 Engine

Of all consumer brands in the group portfolio Fiat and Chrysler, Alfa Romeo has the greatest potential to achieve global coverage and bring some much needed money and sales. The Italian company boss, Sergio Marchionne, is well aware of this and this is one reason why it will not sell Alfa Romeo to Volkswagen, despite the persistent efforts of Ferdinand Piech. "

But one of the most pressing problems with Alfa Romeo is the constant delays that are the successors of models like the 159-series or long-awaited return of the company to the U.S. market.

Suffice it to say, there is no way to be sure that the Fiat Group has established the planning problems when it comes to Alfa Romeo. However, during a recent event for investors, the Fiat Group presented an updated plan for the brand in Milan, where he hopes to relaunch Alfa Romeo through the presentation of new models.

Plan the company's product involves the use of two types of cars, is described as "brand lighters", which means the vehicles are intended to strengthen the brand image, and the mainstream "brand pillars" models to improve sales .

The first vehicle to arrive is the new carbon-fiber bodied, mid-engine supercar 4C, which will also signal the return of Alfa Romeo in the U.S. market in 2013. Although it will be a seller of low-volume two-seat model, design and advanced technology promises to serve 21 years of history Reminder racing Alfa and degrees.

The second model, which is the "fire lighter" is the new umbrella brand Spider 2014. According to Alfa Romeo Roadster provide both sporty handling and a distinctive style, while its lightweight design will give it a high power to weight ratio.

On a much more important for the expansion of Alfa and financial viability, the new sedan and Sportwagon Julienne, which will be based on an expanded version of the platform Giulietta. It will replace the 159 in 2014, two years later than originally planned.

As the Alpha to stop production of the current model luxury medium-sized enterprises, at the end of 2012, this will leave the company without a challenger in A4 / BMW 3 Series Audi segments for over a year. The reason for this difference is that Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne said Alfa Romeo style, rejected suggestions made more than once.

Another volume-selling series Alpha "brand pillars" is a compact SUV available globally. Together with the Giulia, which should contribute greatly to the carmaker's end to reach 400,000 units in 2014 - a jump from the sale of 155 000 expected this year.

The compact SUV will be built in Italy and compete with the likes of the VW Tiguan and Ford Kuga, promises to combine the attributes to be expected in this category, with "a true Alfa Romeo style ', handling and performance.

Fans of the brand will be pleased to know that Alfa will launch the first mass production model rear-wheel drive, with 75 (sold in the United States, Milan) gave its place to FWD 155 in 1992. AS-of-yet unnamed flagship sedan will be the luxury brand, and will likely share its platform with the Chrysler 300 In addition to being RWD, also revealed that Alfa will be powered by a V6 engine with production expected to start in 2014.

Alfa Central planning will be the new all-aluminum, 1.8 direct injection engine literturbocharged mounted on a wide range of Alfa models produce up to 300 horsepower.

Last but not least, Alfa Romeo has also unveiled plans for its current portfolio. The duo Brera / Spider will stop at the end of 2011, while the MiTo will be to obtain a five-door version in early 2014, and Giulietta a mid-life facelift of the same year.

Lamborghini Confirms Limited Production Run of the Sesto Elemento

The Gallardo Super Trofeo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale may have been the center of attention at Lamborghini's press event in Frankfurt, but the Italian company had another surprise under its sleeve as it announced that the stunning Sesto Elemento concept would enter a limited production.

The Sesto Elemento was unveiled at last year’s Paris Motor Show as a showcase for Lamborghini’s technological innovations. The automaker had then denied speculation that it was the Gallardo’s replacement or a new addition to its range.

It was a plausible denial: the outrageously designed, carbon fiber prototype was seemingly too radical for production.

The Sesto Elemento was Lamborghini's first supercar after the 1986 Countach Evoluzione that weighed less than 1,000 kg – even by a mere kilogram. This, combined with the motorsport-sourced 570HP V10 (the same engine as the Gallardo Superleggera and Stradale) gave the Sesto Elemento a power-to-weight ratio of just 1.75 kg per HP and a 2.5 seconds time for the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint.

Winkelmann explained Lamborghini’s change of heart: “The excellent feedback and the numerous requests we’ve had from our customers have really convinced us to embark on the challenge of producing a vehicle with unique characteristics. We are proud that what a year ago was a technology demonstrator of future super sports cars, even though in working order, will become a small series reality.”

Exactly how small? Well, lets’ just say that it will make the 150 units of the Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale seem too common in comparison: the Sesto Elemento’s production run will be a mere 20 units, with deliveries starting in 2013.
