Honda UK Confirms Production of Supercharged CR-Z iCF

As we actually thought when Honda unveiled the Mugen CR-Z RR Research at the Goodwood Celebration of Pace 2011 previously in the summertime months, the Western carmaker verified a creation edition of its hotted-up multiple game hatch out that will go available in The united kingdom next springtime.

And for those of you questioning, unfortunately, Honda has no programs to provide the car in other areas – at least for moment.

The creation style is called CR-Z iCF and it has been designed in relationship with Mugen's Western arm. At the center of the car is a altered edition of the CR-Z's 1.5-liter multiple powertrain that results a supercharger, a new induction program and a reprogrammed ECU.

As as a consequence of these improvements, the CR-Z iCF has almost 50 % more energy than the normal car at 175PS (equal to 173HP and 177bhp) and can dash from zero to 62mph (100km/h) in just 6.1 mere a few moments or 3 mere a few moments more quickly than the common 124PS CR-Z.

In inclusion to the energy enhance, Mugen will also retune the case and change the appearance of the CR-Z within and out.

Martin Moll, Go of Honda UK's advertising split commented: "MUGEN Dollar wonder has designed a extremely sensitive yet eco-conscious style developing on our having experience and providing us the capability to participate in the "hot hatch" industry as we go into 2012."

Honda said that it is still operating on the prices but it needs the CR-Z iCF to begin from around £24,000 (approx. US$37,300 or €27,990). More information are to be introduced better the begin time frame.

Chevrolet Aveo 5-door

The Aveo is finally here and in the metal, and Chevy says it is targeting young buyers interested in a hot-hatch "seems as good as the Aveo RS show car concept." Points for trying, guys, but not really ...

Set to hit Europe in the summer of 2011, Aveo 5-door is powered by a variety of small-displacement gasoline and diesel engines (ranging from 70-115 hp), and also available in a 6-speed stick. All information is available engines and similar products, check out our previous post.

The black plastic sea has crept inside and they are everywhere outside the car, as evidenced by the front and back of the old light and the rear quarter window. So all that was once attractive from the back of 3 / 4 (like the C-pillar kink and treatment of the back) seems to have been toned down a rung.

And if the tailgate does not do it for you, Chevrolet has a sedan version of the car, or in Los Angeles in November or Detroit in January 2011. Anyone interested in a 180 horsepower version of SS?

Citroën DS3 Racing Special Receives the Superchip Treatment

These days, the easiest way to improve the performance of any modern car is through a software upgrade. British tuner Superchips, which specializes on ECU remaps, has launched a new program for the special edition Citroën DS3 Racing that has a limited production run of 1,000 units.

In UK trim, the sportiest version of the French hatchback is fitted with a 1.6-liter twin-scroll turbocharged petrol engine delivering 204bhp and 202.8 lb-ft (275Nm) of peak torque.

After Superchip's ECU optimization, the blown four-banger gains 26bhp and 43Nm for a total of 230bhp and 318Nm (234.5 lb-ft).

The British tuner claims that the upgrade makes the hot hatch feel "livelier" and with "enhanced in gear acceleration". The company added that while it has yet to test the improved DS3 Racing, it expects that the power increase will help the car "eclipse" the quoted 6.5 seconds 0-60 mph (96km/h) time and 149 mph (240km/h) top speed.

The ECU tune is suitable for all Citroën DS3 Racing models produced from January 2011 onwards, with UK pricing set at £455.00, including VAT at 20%.

IAA 2011: Ford’s New Focus ST gets ST-R Racing Version

Even though the brand-new Focus ST was just launched at the 64th International Auto Show in Frankfurt, the hot hatch which will also be available as a Wagon in Europe, already has a racing sibling: the Focus ST-R that also made its world premiere in Germany.

Developed by Ford Racing Team in collaboration with the firm's Global Performance Vehicles group, the Focus ST-R is aimed at professional and amateur racers alike, as well as track-day enthusiasts, and is designed to compete in a wide variety of races.

Ford even hopes that some of its customers will take part in more professional events such as the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.

Like the (five-door) road version upon which it is based, the ST-R is powered by Ford’s new 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine. It features a new track-tuned suspension and uprated brakes and, since it is a race car, a FIA-spec roll cage.

Jost Capito, Ford’s director of motorsports, commented: “From the beginning the Focus and the new Focus ST were designed to be driver’s cars. The road-going Focus features best-in-class brakes, handling and powertrains. Ford Racing in North America has taken this effort and developed the Focus ST-R and is a perfect example of how a production car inspires a competitive race car for enthusiasts.”

2014 Ford Focus RS Dreamed up as Three-Door Hot Hatch

Earlier this month, Ford's global boss for small cars, Gunnar Herrmann, confirmed the development of a next generation Focus RS. The news motivated Carscoop reader Lil-k Amaru to create a computer generated version of the future hot hatch.

While Herrmann shared several juicy details, revealing for example that Ford is working on a highly tuned 2.0-liter turbo engine driving the front wheels, he didn't say if the Focus RS will be based on the 5-door hatch or the rumored three door version (keep in mind, it's not clear yet if the 3door Focus will be designed more on the coupe side like the Opel Astra GTC or more on the traditional side like the previous model).

Nevertheless, Lil-k Amaru opted for the second choice blending a whole lot from the body of the older RS with select styling elements from the newer generation of the Focus like the headlamps, tail lamps and the kink over the rear wheel arches.

H/T to Lil-k Amaru for the renderings!

VW celebrates GTI anniversary with 232-hp Edition 35

The Volkswagen GTI is the king of the hot hatches. Sure, there are more powerful, better-driving cars in the segment, but Volkswagen’s hot Golf kicked off this niche of flingable sport compacts back in the mid-1970s, and it’s quickly grown to become one of our favorite vehicle classes. When it comes to fun per dollar, you just can’t beat a hot hatch.

To celebrate the 35th birthday of the Golf GTI, Volkswagen has created this, the 35 Edition, which goes on sale in Germany this week. Visually, the 35 Edition is set apart by a unique front bumper, special wheels, and ’35′ badging on the door sills and seats. The most important upgrade, however, is the substantial boost in power over the normal GTI – 25 horsepower – for a grand total of 235 hp.

Volkswagen hasn’t said a word about availability here in the United States just yet, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed. The Golf GTI 35 Edition makes its official debut at the infamous GTI Meet in Wörthersee, Germany, on June 1st. Follow the jump for VW’s (translated) press release.
