Chrysler 300S 426 HEMI V8 Concept Growls at the LA Auto Show

Once the base currency of the U.S. auto industry in muscle, "there is no replacement for displacement" school of thought has become obsolete in today's world of high technology.

Of course, it does not in any way that we do not appreciate some U.S. raw V8 power, and there is much going on with the conceptual framework 300S Chrysler 426, which is on display at Auto Show in Los Angeles 2011.

The concept is a joint project between Chrysler and Mopar brand, which basically dropped a 426 cubic inch [equal to 7.0 liters] HEMI crate V8 under the hood of a Chrysler 300.

The company did not release performance figures, but our feeling is that it either is all-aluminum 426 Hemi V8 Generation III is estimated at 540 horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque, the 426 or newer Gen III High Output V8 HEMI with a monstrous 590 horsepower on tap. Regardless, it's a bunch of ponies ...

About the concept at the show, said the CEO of Chrysler brand Saad Chehab, engineers listening V8 automobile exhaust system to provide "a more refined, but its very loose." You can hear for yourself about 1 minute and 39 seconds into the video, we've added below.

Besides all the assets of the standard edition of 300 S, such as cutting black exterior, the 426 300S also features a unique interior with "seam cascade," a recalibrated suspension and sports a see-through a plastic panel on the hood similar to that found in the Corvette ZR1.

It all sounds good, but it's just another one of these concept cars without a future? Not exactly what Chrysler said Chehab gauge the reaction of the Motor Show in Los Angeles and people that there is enough interest, to be produced.

"Right now we are trying to see what the reaction will be at the show and we hope that people will love and appreciate what it delivers and we are hopeful it will soon be available through Mopar," said Chehab.
