Ferrari Celebrates 60 Years of Formula 1 Wins with “60F1” Limited Edition of 599 GTB



Scuderia Ferrari is the only team that has been present in Formula 1 since its conception in 1950. On July 14 1951, it scored its first-ever F1 victory at the British Grand Prix held at Silverstone with a 375 F1 driven by Froilan Gonzalez.

Six decades later, on July 10 2011, Fernando Alonso won Ferrari’s sole Grand Prix in the 2011 F1 season. To celebrate the event, Ferrari has launched the “60 Years of Victories in Formula 1” [60F1] package for the 599 GTB Fiorano equipped with the HGTE handling package.

Clients who opt for this special edition of the 599 can choose from a list of exterior and interior modifications that are part of Ferrari’s Tailor-Made program, which was launched today in Maranello by Ferrari CEO Luca di Montezemolo and creative consultant for the Tailor-Made program, Lapo Elkan.

The bodywork of the 60F1 is available in three liveries. The first one is the 375 F1, which is the same darker red color used by the Scuderia for its first F1 cars. The second is the Ferrari 150o Italia, inspired by this year’s F1 car with white strips on the front bumper, mudguards, A-posts and buttresses, and the colors of the Italian flag painted on the rear. The third model is the 150o Italia 2, which is almost identical to the previous scheme but without most of the white-painted parts.

All three versions get the Scuderia Ferrari shield on the front wheel arches painted as in the competition cars, 20-inch diamond-finish forged alloy wheels and a satin-finish aluminum fuel cap.

The interior gets seats made by Sabelt in the European version and Recaro in the North American model upholstered in Alcantara (like the rest of the cabin), with extra-grip Superfabric material in areas that come in greatest contact with the driver’s body, the Scuderia Shield stitched on the headrests and red and blue four-point safety belts.

The 599’s dashboard is trimmed in a new light and durable material named Alutex that is made from metallic fibers and fiberglass, and has a matte finish to prevent glare.

Finally, a special silver plaque that commemorates the 60 years of Scuderia Ferrari wins in Formula 1 and features the signatures of both Froilan Gonzalez and Fernando Alonso decorates the dashboard.

Lotus F1-inspired Launches Special Edition Of The Evora S



Lotus has released a new series of special limited its S Evora sports car that pays homage to the Formula 1 team of the brand. As such, it is painted with the colors of the racing team with his body painted black and gold stripes on the hood and roof profile, and a gold-tone "Lotus" sticker to the back.

Evora S special, only three units will be produced, is also equipped with gold-colored 19-inch front and 20 inch rear, while the interior sports lots of suede upholstery with red stitching.

The limited edition is based on the normal Evora S, which means it's powered by a supercharged version of Toyota's 350HP 3.5-liter V6 with a six-speed manual transmission.

The three customers who will catch the limited edition model will have to pay £ 69,950 (U.S. $ 109.823) - or £ 7,500 (U.S. $ 11.775) more than the version-F1-painted.

We can not help but wonder if that's what Mr. Kalbfellmeant by the intention to "make the world a view of our vehicles."

Williams Wants to Extend Jaguar Partnership Beyond C-X75 Supercar



The Williams Formula 1 team, which only recently announced its deal with Renault as an engine partner from 2012 sparking rumors about special editions of the French company's cars like the acclaimed Clio Williams of the past, now says it also wants to expand its cooperation with Jaguar beyond the C-X75 hybrid supercar.

“We would like to become the competition and sporting side of Jaguar” Williams chairman Adam Parr told British magazine Autocar. Parr said that the cooperation in the development of kinetic energy recovery systems (KERS) to be used on the C-X75 is very relevant to Formula 1.

And this technology will be developed even more in the near future since the 2014 rules stipulate that all F1 cars must be powered solely by electric power in the pit lane (Bernie Ecclestone’s objections not withstanding).

“When the C-X75 was first envisaged it was powered by two turbines manufactured by Bladed Jets, which is part owned by Jaguar owner Tata Motors. But we have concentrated on adopting a path that will make the C-X75 the cleanest and more environmentally friendly supercar of all time” said Parr. “So at the moment we are concentrating on a downsized internal combustion engine combined with some pretty amazing kinetic energy recovery systems.”

So, will Jaguar reenter racing and specifically the Le Mans endurance race where it had considerable success in the past? Parr does not confirm nor deny such a possibility: “The C-X75 is not a Le Mans car, of course. But Jaguar had a tremendous record at Le Mans and I think competition and high-performance cars are an area where it’s keen to develop the brand.”

F1: Ecclestone Says No to Electric Engines in the Pit Lane



As you may have already heard, Formula 1’s regulations have been overhauled for the 2014 season with 1.6-liter turbocharged V6s replacing the current 2.4 V8s, while te new cars will also feature a new, more powerful Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS).

The whole concept behind FIA’s proposal is that F1 cannot stay behind the times that demand lower fuel consumption and an environmentally-friendly profile.

However, Bernie Ecclestone has discovered what he believes to be a serious flaw in the proposed regulations for 2014. Ecclestone says the article 5.19, which stipulates that cars must run on electric engines alone in the pit lane with no fuel whatsoever sprayed in the V6 gasoline engine, must be crossed out because “people could be killed”.

"Formula One is absolutely not the right place to have electric engine" Ecclestone told the Daily Express.

"It's like having ballet dancers with sneakers. More comfortable, but it doesn't work. There's no way that it will be electric in the pit lane. People could be killed because they won't hear the cars coming," he added.
