Eldorado's Classic That Inspired The Creation Of The Concept Cadillac Sky

Cadillac has seen dramatic ups and downs (especially the latter ...) in recent decades, the flagship brand of General Motors seems to be going in the right direction in the 21st century, gradually improving its product portfolio.

And it's not just the sedan ATS coming small, full-size sedan XTS cut or pure electric ELR, making the future looks very promising, it is also late model Cadillac concept, Sky, which attracted much attention to Pebble Beach classic car show in August.

A modern four-door convertible Eldorado length measuring 203.7 inches (5174 mm) from nose to tail is not exactly a recipe for packing the fans, but Cadillac's designers somehow do and Heaven was be a hit with most fans to show, not to mention the readers as well.

The more you look at Heaven, the more you appreciate the details, and the work that went into the design of the car. One example is the lower profile of the nickel strip that starts from the front bumper and blow up the rear of the car. In collaboration with the subtle top two folds, and sides of the rounded body, it helps to alleviate and reduce the visual weight offers a balanced mix of dynamism and elegance in the form of heaven.

Although not so obvious at first, the essence of Cadillac's designers drew inspiration from the past two Eldorado: Eldorado Brougham exuberant 1957-1958, 1967-1970 Eldorado coupe and irritable.

The Eldorado Brougham 1957-1958 was one of GM's design made under the direction of Harley Earl and a milestone for the Cadillac style. At $ 13.074, was the model hardtop with suicide doors at the back of some GM style offer the most expensive ever, costing twice the price of a regular Eldorado and almost as much as a Rolls Royce. The Brougham took its body style and wraparound windshield to Heaven.

But when it came to styling, the vehicle that inspired the greatest designers of the Cadillac Eldorado was 1967-1970. He wrote under the second major GM designer Bill Mitchell, was the first front-wheel drive model units, and shares its foundation with the Oldsmobile Toronado.

How does the 1967 model seems to Ciel Design Concept to watch over the car from behind the lines and razor-thin, almost jewel-like taillights.

If you take a look at the photos below you will see that the front end of heaven also owes much of its existence in the 1967-1970 model, with its angular lines and high middle part of the hood and headlights back to vertical 1968 - 1970 Eldorado parking lights (headlights were hidden on models 1967/1968).

And that's it. Now if only GM brass found the courage to do Ciel, put a roof on top and a bit of fancy limousines ...
